Pounds to lose:                    92 pounds

I'm feeling better so I hope today finds me back on track, like what was supposed to happen yesterday, I guess my body was just on holiday.  I, actually, started feeling better while watching the close of the Jerry Lewis telethon.  They raised quite alot of money, 58 million, almost 59, that's quite a testament to how dedicated people are to the cause of Jerry's kids.  Good for them!!!!

Since I am still recovering, I made the decision to only do one rowing session today.  My back is still sore and my stomach is still somewhat queasy, I guess I don't need an excuse but there it is.  At least I managed to do almost two hours on Cruella, at one sitting, that is pretty good for me.

I reckon some of you may not be in the best mood today, it is always difficult to return to work after a summer holiday, even just a long weekend can be difficult.  I think the thing that always seemed to put me in a better mood was to start planning another vacation as soon as possible, that way, you have something to look forward to; whatever, you do, don't think about Christmas coming, it is just around the corner, have you started your Xmas shopping yet?

I watched the CBC television show "Steven and Chris," this morning.  I really enjoy watching this talk show, it is harmless, informative, and usually alot of fun.  I don't know if it qualifies as a shot of fabulous or not, but it certainly is entertaining.  I think the one host, Chris Hyndman, has had some work done, if you watch him, his upper forehead doesn't move, for that matter, not much on his face moves except his mouth, but his partner, Steven Sabados, is excellent at cooking segments and discussing design.  Why not give the show a chance and tune in, support your fellow Canadians.

I know when we head south to Florida, I will very much miss watching "Steven and Chris."  I will have to set up my machine to tape all of the episodes, is this show available on DVD yet?  Please advise.  And why don't I have a talk show, I obviously have something to say now and then.

I was just talking to Lily Rose, and like me, Lily would like to lose some weight, thirty pounds, to be exact.  Lily's son, Patrick is getting married next year and Lily has to go to no less than three weddings.

Patrick's fiance, Mutah Roo, is Muslim, and so Patrick, Mutah Roo and Lily Rose are going to have a service to respect each of the wedding party's religion, one for Patrick, who is Chinese,  one for Mutah Roo, and one for Lily Rose.  I think I may be going to one of these weddings so I'll let you know how it all turns out, but right now we have to help Lily Rose get on track to lose weight.

First, Lily Rose has to address her refrigerator and cupboards and do a cleaning out.  Good-bye to chocolate, potato chips, and cookies, at least for awhile.  If one thinks that they have to give up these treats forever, this is an impossible task, but if one is realistic and realizes that this is just temporary, its not forever, this is do able, or is it doable?  Also, Lily Rose has to get motivated, and stop procrastinating.  There is no better day to start than today, and why not, kids are back in school, everyone is back to work and next year will soon become this year, so wake up and smell the exercise room!   Anyway, good luck Lily Rose, fortunately for you, I am on your side and we can accomplish both of our goals by working together and helping each other.  I'll be your coach and you can be mine, just like the old days.  I feel better, and thinner, already.

Thank goodness that cold snap has disappeared, gosh, talk about bleak!!!!  As you know, Zac's nephew and his fiance were here for a two-day visit,  and all they got were grey skies, cold, wind, and rain.  They say they're going to try and come back later this year so hopefully, they'll get better weather.

Zac, Winter and I are headed back to Toronto on the sixteenth of this month to attend the 85th birthday celebration of a very dear friend of ours.  It is Uncle Frank's birthday, that's what we call him, and we have not seen him for a very long time.  It was our custom to regularly attend Uncle Frank's house at Christmas, but since we have been going south for the last four years, we have not been involved in too much of Uncle Frank's life.  Naturally, we talk on the phone and have even gone down there for brief impromptu visits, but we have not had the chance to sit down and talk to Uncle Frank for a very long time.  We are very much looking forward to this visit and celebration.  While we are down there, we are also going to attend the engagement party of Zac's nephew Wally to his fiance, Shoshanna.  This affair is being held in North York and will consist of Iranian tradition.  Having had no experience in this area before should prove to be an interesting day for both Zac and I, Winter, alas, will have to stay home.

Pets have become an important part of everyone's life who has one.  They range from dogs, cats, birds, fish, snakes, monkeys, even lions, tigers and bears.  Honestly, I saw on a talk show that this man had a grizzly bear for his best man at his wedding.  I kid you not.  It was surreal!  For me, having a grizzly bear as a best man is a little extreme, but to each his own.  I know I don`t think of Winter as just a pet.

Winter is a very important part of our family.  I rescued her from the Toronto Humane Society when she was just a year and a half old.  Evidently, Winter had been badly abused and was taken out of a home because of this abuse and was subsequently put up for adoption.

The Toronto Humane Society tried in earnest to find the right home for Winter and prior to my adoption of her, she was adopted twice, both unsuccessfully,  as Winter required alot of attention and did not like to be left on her own.  This can be quite difficult for alot of working families.  I personally feel that Winter was just waiting for Zac and I to come along and knew instantly that she was home.  We have never had a problem with Winter and we take her everywhere, we hate it when we are not allowed to bring her with us,  but since some people are allergic to dogs, we acquiesce, unhappily.

Most pets require some amount of care and attention but I like to advise people that the adoption of a dog is a life committment, especially for the dog.   Please do not buy or adopt a dog if you cannot properly care for it, give it exercise or the love that they richly deserve.  Dogs will die for you and every waking moment of theirs is there to please you.  Dogs never have bad moods, they are always happy to see you, but they do have one condition, you have to feed and walk them on a daily basis.

It is so distressing for me to know that the 80% of dogs that are adopted from the Humane Society in the Springtime, (or other rescue places,) get returned during the month of September because people have outgrown their use for the dog.  This is unconscionable and I don`t know how people do it, but trust me, at least returning the dog to the Humane Society is more decent than dropping him/her off at the side of the road.  Please if you must give up a pet, do it responsibly and act like an adult.
